It's been years since we have brewed a Waimea single-hop beer and now that we've not only gotten to know this hop better, but actually become quite smitten by it, we felt it had to be done. Waimea isn't your run of the mill hop, so it only makes sense that Brights Of Passage isn't your run of the mill Westcoast IPA. Brewed to maximize body, mouthfeel, and juiciness; there is definitely a Westcoast Juice feel about this beer. Since Waimea packs a potent bitterness, we dialed the hot-side hops way back and let the dry-hopping of this beer do a lot of the leg work. While this IPA is well balanced with a perfectly resinous mouthfeel, and full to the brim with complexity, the heart and soul of Waimea ultimately dominates this beer with a tidal wave of fresh squeezed tangerine juice, fresh cantaloupe melon, lemon zest, and a heaping spoonful of pine needles.
